URMC provides both mother-baby nursing, which allows babies to remain in the mother’s room for nursing care delivered by the same nurse, and traditional nursing care, which utilizes the nursery. Plus, you and your baby will be cared for by the same nurse each day.

The Medical Center’s nursery is also a Neonatal Special Care Unit (NSCU), or Level II Nursery, and URMC serves the community as a women’s health resource for prevention and treatment of cancer and heart disease, weight control, healthy pregnancy, labor, delivery and breast-feeding, along with other issues that affect your quality of life.
